Moving to New York City, The First Few Days & Goodbye To This Blog …

So we did it … we finally moved to New York City … its something Perry and I had been wanting to do for a long time and never thought it would be possible but somehow we seem to have managed it … and on the 28th November 2016 Perry, myself and our two fluffy babies started our journey from Bahrain to New York City … It was a long few days getting here and getting settled but things are finally starting to calm down a little bit now that we have been here a few days … it still all feels quite surreal but I did also Vlog the whole experience from our last week in Bahrain to the first few days here in NYC … so I’ll include those video’s below here for you incase you happen to be interested in watching … otherwise there are all the usual photos and descriptions below …

 

The morning of the day we were leaving I took my 28 week bump photo …

Having lost all power it got dark really quickly in the afternoon …

Crating the boys in preparation for their pick up by the pet relocators was really heartbreaking … its difficult when you can’t explain to them what is going on and why this is happening … I will admit I did cry …

At the airport all went ok … a little bit of suitcase rejigging was needed to make sure weight distribution was all ok but nothing was over limit which was handy …

Saying goodbye to Bahrain Airport for the last time …

We made it to our layover in London … where we also learned that our long term accomodation booking cancelled on us … not great timing but thankfully we had somewhere to stay for the first night …

Catching our breath for a moment at the airport before hopping into a taxi with all our bags to head into the city …

Getting settled in our temp accomodation for the afternoon … Perry busy trying to sort out a new long term situation while we waited for the boys to be brought round …

Finally reunited with the fluffy babies … they were a bit disoriented and wet from the rain … but we were so happy to have them with us and to see that they were ok … even if a little confused …

First full day in the city and all dressed for the miserable wet weather outside …

The boys were pretty skittish at this new place but overall it was nice to see them come out of hiding from time to time to hang out with us too …

We eventually found a new place to move into for 5 weeks which will take us into the new year … and this has allowed us to relax a lot more and start to enjoy being the city …

The boys have also taken to relaxing more with us in this new apartment … there is more space for them here and I think they are starting to feel more settled … they also turned 5 years old on Thursday 1st December …

Yesterday started out with all the best intentions of getting lots of admin things sorted only to get derailed by some stuff that came up unexpectedly and most of those good intentions ended up taking a back seat …

Hugo was not letting Perry get away anytime soon …

Perry and I have also decided that since we are no longer living in the Middle East that the title of our blog seems a little out of place … and we are entering a new phase of our lives that is very different now than it was when we started this blog over 5 years ago … so with that in mind we have decided to close finish this blog with this post and we won’t be posting here anymore going forward … we plan to start a new blog documenting our continuing adventures, travels and growing family … once we have that new blog set up I will pop back here with a post to let you know where you can find that … in the mean time this blog wont be going anywhere and we will leave it up for anyone who wants to look through the archives …
