Yarn Crawling Around New York City …

_MG_5299-1So this is going to be the second instalment from our New York trip … and this post covers all of the Yarn shops I visited whilst in the city … There wont be too many words in this post but I will explain a bit before each set of pictures which shop I went to and any other relevant information …

First stop was the Lion Brand studios near Union Square … this actually ended up being the only Yarn shop that Perry came with me … it was just the way it worked out …

_MG_5238-1 Lion Brand have a collection of Luxury yarns that were interesting to see …

_MG_5231-1 _MG_5232-1 Walls of Yarn …

_MG_5233-1 _MG_5234-1 The Sampling wall was an interesting concept … so you can try different yarns on some needles to see if you like it before purchasing!

Another store I stopped into was Purl Soho … I actually went twice so the photos are from both trips … and while I was in New York I met up with some knitting friends to visit most of these places so it was a lot of fun to share the experience with others who understand the my yarn obsession!

The samples on display are all so beautiful!

_MG_5303-1 They also have a beautiful selection of gorgeous fabrics …

_MG_5304-1 _MG_5375-1 _MG_5376-1 The second time I visited the store Brooklyn Tweed were having a trunk show so it was fun to see some of their patterns knit up in the yarn …

Kristen of Voolenvine yarns was having a Trunk show at a pop up Yarn store – Gauge and Tension over the weekend I was in New York so of course we had to stop by …

_MG_5316-1 _MG_5319-1

So much pretty yarn …

_MG_5326-1 _MG_5320-1

There were many other gorgeous indie-dyed yarns up for sale too … it was hard to decide what to get …

_MG_5321-1 _MG_5322-1 _MG_5325-1 _MG_5333-1

It was great getting to hang out with Kristen and Maria who both also having knitting podcasts …

_MG_5340-1 _MG_5341-1 _MG_5343-1 _MG_5345-1 _MG_5350-1 _MG_5354-1 _MG_5355-1 _MG_5360-1 _MG_5364-1 _MG_5369-1 _MG_5395-1

We also visited Knitty City which was further up town in Manhattan …

_MG_5397-1 _MG_5399-1

Definitely a more chaotic yarn store than some of the others we had been too … still a lot of fun and plenty of wonderful things to be found …

_MG_5307-1 _MG_5308-1 The last Yarn store I visited was The Yarn Company … and I only realised after that I’d only taken this one picture while I was there … I honestly thought I’d taken more than this but I guess I got distracted by the pretty things on display …

_MG_5311-1

That about sums it up for this post …

Thanks for stopping by …

Till next time …

  1. Great shops, feel like jumping in the car and heading down the road.
Love all your posts. I nearly had heart failure when I saw all the fabric cut for bags. What a girl!

  2. I would have run a riot in these stores, they’d have to throw me out! How did you restrain yourself? That sampling wall is a great idea, something I might have to steal when the time comes đŸ˜‰

    • I don’t think I was overly restrained … I still have stuff I bought to show on the podcast!!! In all seriousness I kept having to remind myself I’ll be back there again so it’s not the last time … That and I had a list
