Budaiya Farmers Market … Bahrain Life …

_MG_3285-1Hey everyone … so I’m not going to take up too much time today as I have a lot of stuff to be getting back to … but I did want to share some pictures from last weekend … Saturday morning Perry and I along with our friend Paul who was over visiting us headed over to Budaiya park where on the weekends they have a Farmers Market …

_MG_3268-1 _MG_3272-1 _MG_3275-1We had never been before but I had been wanting to go since we moved here … just hadn’t made it for one reason or another … anyway we headed over there in the morning expecting a similar type of thing that we had experienced before in Dubai …

_MG_3270-1Spotted this lady making and selling Crocheted items …

_MG_3278-1 _MG_3276-1 _MG_3285-1In fact it was very different … it felt alot more authentic as a farmers market … less of the whole artisan/organic stuff and more just good old fashioned locally grown veggies … being sold by local farmers … and people were out in droves buying lots of stuff to stock up for the week …

_MG_3288-1 _MG_3287-1 _MG_3289-1 _MG_3294-1 _MG_3310-1You could even borrow trolleys to go food shopping … people were literally leaving with trolley loads of vegetables!

_MG_3290-1 _MG_3295-1 _MG_3298-1 _MG_3297-1 _MG_3299-1Lots of fresh fruit and colourful veggies on offer … including purple peppers, mulberries (my Mum’s favourite) and purple sprouting broccoli …

_MG_3301-1 _MG_3304-1 _MG_3305-1 _MG_3310-1 _MG_3320-1 _MG_3314-1We had a good time walking around and seeing what was on offer … and had we been better prepared we’d have had a list of things we needed and could have gotten our weekly veggies at the same time …

_MG_3314-1Not to mention the massive goose eggs …

_MG_3353-1 _MG_3327-1 _MG_3325-1After wandering the market we headed back to the food court area … there was a range of places to get ready made food from for breakfast … Paul and I settled on getting scrambled eggs with veggies …

_MG_3339-1 _MG_3345-1It was really good … although I have to say its the first time I’ve seen someone cook flamingΒ eggs …

_MG_3349-1I even bumped into an old school friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in over 10 years … we were in 6th form together back in London … so it was really lovely to bump into her so randomly …

_MG_3354-1All in all we had a lovely morning and it was a great way to start our day …

That is it for this week … thanks for tuning in …

Till next time …

Mina X

    • I knew she had married a Bahraini guy but I didn’t know she was in Bahrain at the time … She’d only had a baby two months ago so I was even more surprised to see here

    • haha … yeah the purple peppers are fun … I’ve had them before and they turn green once cooked … alot like purple sprouting broccoli … I knew that friend had married a Bahraini guy but I didn’t know she was in Bahrain at the moment so it was really strange hearing my name being called across the park … πŸ™‚
