Northern Lights … Iceland Trip – Part 5 …

_MG_9418-1Hello everyone … and happy Christmas Eve … today is hopefully going to just be a nice relaxing day around here … we don’t have a lot planned so I think we will just be staying around the Marina and taking it easy … in the mean time I am here with a quick post continuing our adventures in Iceland …

So after the MORNING drive along the South Coast and time spent at the GLACIER LAGOON … on the drive back to the guest house we were lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights …

At first it was quite a weak northern light display but as we waited and got our camera settings figured out they started to get stronger …

_MG_9406-1 _MG_9409-1It was freezing cold at -13C and the winds at times were still pretty strong … but it was totally worth numb toes and a frozen nose to get the opportunity to see them and take photos …

You can’t see it in the pictures but they were literally dancing in the night sky … it was so incredible to witness it …

_MG_9422-1The second location is where I got some of my favourite pictures from that night …

Never had I been happier to see a tourist bus rock up in the middle of my shot … this is probably my favourite photo overall from the night …

A little Northern Lights Self Timer Selfie of me and Perry …

The final photo stop had some incredible displays of lights and colours … but unfortunately not many of my pictures turned out that well because of passing car lights ruining the exposures … but I still got quite a few I loved …

So with finally having had the chance to see the Northern Lights on the clearest night from our whole trip … I couldn’t have been more excited about it … seeing the Northern Lights was one of the main reasons we decided to come to Iceland … and since I knew the chances were slim as Iceland is notorious for having almost constant cloud cover during December … I was even more ecstatic about seeing them … it was the perfect end to a wonderful day …

That is it for this post … thanks for tuning in …

Till next time …
