South Africa – Addo Elephant National Park … Kuzuko Lodge …

_MG_0882-1So after we spent the night at PORT ELIZABETH we checked out in the morning to make our way over to the Addo Elephant National Park … it was a simple enough drive and only took a couple hours in total …

_MG_0763-1 _MG_0755-1Part of the way took us along an unpaved road … I’d done some research into it before and read up about the way to drive to the Lodge … their website itself doesn’t give the best navigational information … but I found the GPS coordinates through googling and also learned that even though there are signs they are not that frequent … but thankfully the Sat Nav was pretty good at getting us there with no problems …

_MG_0790-1 _MG_0812-1We rolled up to the Lodge Reception and car park soon after entering through the gates … once parked up we went in to let them know we had arrived and after filling in a couple forms we loaded up our stuff into a Game Drive Vehicle and one of their Rangers took us up to the main Lodge and Cabins …

_MG_0817-1 _MG_0823-1We spotted a little Meerkat scamper off as we drove by …

_MG_0801-1 _MG_0802-1We got checked in at the Lodge … enjoyed the views from the deck and generally relaxed while they processed our paperwork …

_MG_0892-1 _MG_0896-1They had a lovely looking pool but it was just too cold to even contemplate getting in …

_MG_0904-1We got to our little cabin which was so lovely …

_MG_0925-1 _MG_0908-1The terrace balcony was really great … because the lodge and cabins are high up on a mountain top there are great views down the valley and around the park …

The room itself was really nicely finished and decorated … although the bathroom was pretty cold at night …

All wrapped up for our first game drive … this first game drive actually ended up being the coldest one we did the whole time we were there as well … and those ear warmers are brilliant things … still by far probably the best present Perry ever got me (I also think it was probably the first gift he ever got me?!?!) …

_MG_0921-1 _MG_0937-1 _MG_1877-1Some pictures of the Lodge and Cabins from afar …

_MG_1885-1Finally a Panorama shot from the deck of the Lodge with all the cabins below …

Kuzuko Lodge Addo Pano 1We really enjoyed our time at the Kuzuko Lodge and it was a great first experience of a Safari for the both of us … its a very family friendly place and the food was pretty delicious too … going in the off season is a really good idea too … for the first day it was just the two of us and a Belgian family of 4 staying … and a couple more couples joined at the end of the second day … so it was really quiet and not to mention the rates are cheaper in the off season making this brilliant value for money …

I’ll be back later with details and pictures of what we saw and did on the game drives … but that is it for now …

Till next time …

Mina X
