South Africa – On The Road … Garden Route to Port Elizabeth …

_MG_0478-1So after our lovely morning at the OSTRICH FARM we finally hit the road and headed for Port Elizabeth … we actually decided to change up our route a little bit and chose to take the shortest route along the rest of the Garden Route rather than going back down along the coast as we had originally planned … this cut our driving time but at least 2 hours and meant we could take our time getting to Port Elizabeth and stopping along the way if we wanted too … Plus the Garden Route was so pretty we wanted to see the rest of it …

_MG_0367-1_MG_0422-1Honestly it was such a pretty drive the whole day … blue skies … fluffy clouds and beautiful mountains …

_MG_0371-1 _MG_0381-1It wasn’t long after we hit the road that we got caught up in a flock of sheep passing us …

_MG_0400-1 _MG_0403-1Then it was back to the pretty skies and views …

_MG_0428-1 _MG_0463-1 _MG_0478-1Seriously I couldn’t stop taking pictures … so much so that I didn’t even pick up my knitting that day as I barely put down the camera long enough … and it was really hard to pick favourites for this post …

_MG_0494-1 _MG_0518-1 _MG_0558-1Soon after about 4 hours of driving and a couple stops along the way for food / toilets … we got close to Port Elizabeth …

_MG_0575-1 _MG_0588-1We quickly found our way to our hotel for the night … The Windermere … it was really pretty and very relaxed … there are only 9 rooms at this place which is a converted set of 3 houses …

We had a pretty large room and lots of space to relax …

Pretty Ocean views and they even brought up some French Pressed Coffee to our room … it was a very well put together place and also very good value for money … the website isn’t the best but if you are ever in Port Elizabeth and want somewhere quite I would really recommend you check this place out …

As we got there late in the afternoon we didn’t have time to really go and explore the city very much … so we just opted to go for a walk down to the beach before the sunset …

It was pretty quiet and cold … but it was nice to just get out and stretch our legs a bit after being cooped up in the car all day …

I even got to ride a Giraffe … well a wooden rocking toy one in the park …

_MG_0715-1Perry found a small local restaurant nearby to where we were staying so we ventured out for dinner there …

_MG_0732-1 _MG_0726-1

They had a pretty awesome display unit for their wines … while their cocktails came in these massive 1ltr jars …

_MG_0736-1Perry opted for the Steak while I had the Tiger Prawn Platter … they were really lovely and peeled the Prawns and everything for me … that’s usually the part that puts me off ordering them at restaurants …

_MG_0742-1 _MG_0746-1It was surprisingly good food as we went in not expecting too much … we headed back to the hotel to sleep for the night as we planned to leave after breakfast in the morning to head to Kazuko Lodge at the Addo Elephant National Park …

That is it for this post …

Till next time …
