South Africa – Cape Town … Cape Point & Baboons …

_MG_9108-1Hey everyone … so after we finished our SCONES & COFFEE in Noordhoek we carried on south toward the Table Mountain National Park and Cape Point itself … as we drove along the weather got progressively worse … to the point where at the entrance to the park the lady selling us our tickets told us the visibility was terrible and that we wouldn’t see anything … Perry and I looked at each other and thought well we are here and we wont have another opportunity to come back this trip so we may as we go anyway …

_MG_8854-1 _MG_8898-1So we went on and to be honest at first I was a little worried when the skies were this grey and the rain was pretty heavy … but by the time we got to Cape Point and the car park near the restaurants and cafe the weather had pretty much cleared up …

I mean it was still overcast a little and cold … but the view wasn’t obscured anymore … we even spotted some Baboons off in the distance …

Then as we were walking around checking out the food options for lunch later … we spotted this guy wandering around terrorizing a bunch of people for their food …

We caught the little funicular tram to the top where the lighthouse was … we could have walked it but I was cold and wasn’t wearing the right shoes …

We wandered around the top a little bit more and went to explore the gift shop …

We ended up spending more time in the gift shop than I’d thought because by the time we came out and headed to the funicular station (in the same building) we saw a bunch of the same people who had come up with us all absolutely soaked … turned out there had been a heavy shower while we were inside … by the time we got down to the car park it had stopped … I told you before and I’ll say it again we got really really lucky with the weather that day …

Having said that we didn’t get lucky with everything and upon returning back to the car we found it had been attacked by a Baboon … Yup … a Baboon threw poop at our car …

Anyway … we passed a couple more Baboons as we were heading back toward the main gate … they were just sat by the side of the road … hanging out …

_MG_9067-1 _MG_9075-1The weather was much clearer on the drive back and the colours of the ocean with the surrounding landscape was really beautiful …

As we left the park and headed on to Simon’s Town for our next stop … we passed by an array of interesting road signs … I think by the end of the trip I had collected a bunch of different animal signs …

_MG_9162-1 _MG_9154-1 _MG_9171-1 _MG_9168-1As you can probably guess from the last picture we were off to see the African Penguins … but that’s for the next post …

Till next time …
