Weekly Roundup On A Saturday … South Africa Highlights …

Hey everyone … so we finally made it home from South Africa … I had intended on getting this post done on Thursday initially then when that turned out to be unlikely I wanted to do it on Friday as we had a few hours at the airport before our flight and thought I’d have plenty of time but the internet connection was a bit crappy so that didn’t work either …

So here I am on a Saturday doing my weekly roundup … this is pretty much photo heavy summary of our South Africa trip … anyway here we go …

On our first day we had wanted to go up Table Mountain but it was closed due to bad weather … the top was covered by a thick layer of clouds …

_MG_8347-1But we headed up the nearby Signal Hill where we had good views of the City, Table Mountain and Lions Head … I also quickly realised how badly under prepared I was for the cold weather …

The next day we went on a mini road trip around the Cape Peninsula … _MG_8765-1

Stopping at lots of places along the way and enjoying the views … at one stop we were stalked by this little fluffy creatures called Rock Hyrax’s … they look all cute and adorable but every time we looked around more and more showed up … it was a little creepy …

We made our way to the Cape Point National Park where the weather was terrible … but as soon as we got to Cape Point at the end of the Peninsula the clouds cleared and the sun came out …

I also bought a lovely warm jacket that first evening … it was such a life saver that week …

We saw plenty of Baboons terrorising tourists for food …

By the time we got back to our car we found out the Baboons had attacked it …

_MG_9108-1We then headed up to Boulder’s Beach where we caught up with the African Penguins nesting on the beach …

The next day we hit the road and started making our way east … stopping at a few places along the way … the best one being Cape L’Argulhas … the Southern most point of Africa …

It also happens to be where the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean meet … at the Southern most tip of Africa …

We then hit the Garden Route (R62) to get to our overnight destination …

We stayed at the Reitfontein Ostrich Palace which was an incredible part of our trip … the views from the back of our cottage was beyond amazing …

In the morning we took a tour of their Ostrich Farm … the owner took us round and explained the process and how it all works … it was very interesting to learn about it …

These two pups made it so hard to leave …

We hit the road again and took the Garden Route till we got to Port Elizabeth for the night …

Once we got to our hotel and settled in we went for a walk along the beach before the sunset …

I also got to ride a Giraffe … well a wooden toy one anyway …

The next morning we made our way to the Addo Elephant Park and checked in at the Lodge …

Whilst we were there we saw so many animals and had some wonderful experiences … we saw the Sun Set …

We saw four out of the Big Five  … Elephants …

We even got to go on an early morning walk with the Cheetah’s …

We saw so many other animals … the Zebra were some of my favourites from the others we saw …

On each of the Game Drives we’d have a stop somewhere along the way to stretch our legs and have some refreshments … and yes I am answering a work email in the one below …

Anyway this turned out to be much longer than I’d anticipated but its a pretty good summary of what we got up to …
