The Field Museum … Chicago …

_MG_6829-1So on our last full day in Chicago we spent a few hours exploring the Field Museum … Perry had been really looking forward to this one and had wanted to go since he had last been in Chicago …

Its a massive place with lots to see and do while your there … again its a great place for kids to learn and explore but there is plenty to keep the grown-ups entertained too … which was great for us … we started off with the Ancient Egyptian Exhibit …

We made our way round some of the other smaller exhibits and had probably covered about 40% of what there was to see by the time we stopped for food … again we were both pleasantly surprised by how nice the museum food was …

The Burritos were yummy …

_MG_6964-1 _MG_6978-1Sue the Dinosaur is the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever found … as part of our entry tickets we got to see a short documentary about Sue … how they found the skeleton and the restoration process which was interesting …

The Owl above reminded me of Hugo with his unimpressed face … and the one below reminded me more of Derek …

The Evolving Planet Exhibit was really interesting … covering everything from the early signs of life on earth up to modern day …

There again I was most interested in the Dinosaurs …

And big Mammoth …

_MG_7164-1I liked this wall of pictures and the quote from Charles Darwin at the end …

By the time we had finished this exhibit both Perry and I had pretty much had our fill of the museum for the day … there were only a few other rooms that we skipped over … but if we are ever back again we will be sure to go back … it was a great place to explore and well worth a visit …

That is it for this post …

Till next time …
