Food On Foot Tour … & The MET … New York City …

IMG_0215-1Hey so I’m back finally with the last installment from the New York part of our trip … on our last day in the city we had signed up to do a Food tour on the East side of Manhattan … it was one of the Food On Foot Tours …

_MG_5203-1 _MG_5214-1We met up with the group at Penn Station … where our tour guide Cory introduced himself and gave us a bit of insight into what we would expect over the following few hours …

We started out with the first stop at a small Pizza place just outside of Penn Station … its called NY Pizza Suprema … and at first it doesn’t look like much … it looks a lot like any other pizza place really …

Because we knew we were going to be going to 6 different places that day we shared a plain slice (tomato & cheese) between us …

_MG_5229-1

It was so good … as in I took a bite and it was amazing … I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had such yummy pizza ever …

Perry was equally enamored with the place … in fact we both loved it so much so that we changed up our afternoon plans to come back here again for more pizza … but I’ll get to that later …

_MG_5257-1

After the Pizza we headed west and stopped at Tehuitzingo … its a small Mexican grocery store with a tiny Deli counter at the back …

_MG_5243-1_MG_5248-1

Here we ordered traditional Mexican Tacos with Mexican Coke (made with cane sugar) … Perry and I opted for the beef … it was good …

They had a lot of different Chili sauces to choose from too …

_MG_5250-1

Next up was a sweet stop at Sullivan Street Bakery …

_MG_5262-1We popped in to grab something and everyone then congregated back at a nearby park to snack and rest …

_MG_5264-1 _MG_5273-1

I had the Chocolate Almond Croissant and Perry had the Lemon Rosemary Muffin …

_MG_5279-1 _MG_5274-1

Next up was City Sandwich … a Mediterranean inspired Sandwich place that has a real emphasis on healthy fresh ingredients …

_MG_5311-1

The Owner came out and gave a bit of an explanation about the concept for his business and talked us through the menu a little … he was generally a lovely guy and very happy!

_MG_5334-1

Perry and I ended up splitting the Todd Sandwich and a homemade Lemonade …

_MG_5326-1 _MG_5328-1

We ended off this stop with a couple egg tarts … yummy …

_MG_5333-1

By this time we were both getting very full … and our next stop was a Greek Bakery … the sweets looked so good but we were both too full to eat anymore at this point … so we didn’t order anything here …

_MG_5342-1 _MG_5350-1 _MG_5352-1

Following that we headed to our last stop … funnily enough we went to Shake Shack … a place we had meant to go to earlier in our visit but didn’t … finally we ended up here and the main reason our Tour Guide Cory brought us here was to try the Frozen Custard desserts …

_MG_5355-1Perry and I shared a Vanilla and Chocolate one … although having tried both … and considering both of us are avid chocolate fans … we both thought the vanilla was better!

_MG_5360-1By this time as you can imagine we were both pretty stuffed … we eventually got our bearings and made our way up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art … they have this Roof Top exhibition on that I wanted to see and neither of us had been to the Met on our previous visits …

_MG_5379-1 _MG_5382-1 _MG_5384-1

We had a good time wandering around the exhibits … Perry was made to wear his backpack on his front …

_MG_5390-1

There is so much to see at the Met you really need a whole day here … unfortunately we only had a couple hours so we saw what we could in the time we had …

_MG_5396-1 _MG_5398-1 _MG_5402-1 _MG_5410-1 _MG_5415-1 _MG_5463-1

We made our way up to the roof top and even though it was a muggy day it was still nice to have the views out over Central Park and the City …

_MG_5423-1 _MG_5441-1 _MG_5428-1 _MG_5437-1

Its also a good spot for people watching …

_MG_5431-1 _MG_5445-1 _MG_5449-1 _MG_5432-1 _MG_5438-1 _MG_5457-1 IMG_0215-1

By this time it was getting late in the afternoon … we had plans that evening to go to a METS game with Laura and James so we scrapped plans of a walk through Central Park and instead headed back to NY Pizza Suprema for some more pizza …

_MG_5476-1 _MG_5479-1 _MG_5481-1

So much yumminess …

Anyway that is it for this post …

Till next time …

  1. This post has officially made me drool! And I officially love Perry – for being a geek and wearing the Green Lantern t-shirt. Thanks for taking me on a tour of NY -one day I will visit that beautiful city and see all of this in person.
