Empire State Building … Public Library & Other Bits … New York City …

_MG_3563-1Hey everyone … so this will be the first of several posts about our recent trip to the US … starting with our first day in New York … we flew over night from Dubai and what with the 8hr time difference and 13hr flight time we ended up landing in New York JFK at around 8.30am … thankfully we both managed to get a few hours sleep on the plane and arrived feeling a lot more refreshed and awake than we had anticipated … after a quick change of clothes at the airport and having dropped off our bags at the Hotel for the day we wasted no time in heading out quickly to get started with our day …

First thing we did was head to Grand Central Station to collect our New York Passes … We listed out all the activities we wanted to do while we were in New York and worked out that we’d save a decent amount by getting these passes … it actually worked out really well in the end …

_MG_3421-1 _MG_3432-1After picking those up we wandered along to Bryant Park and The New York Public Library … I really like just wandering around the Library and we actually ended up spending quite a bit of time in the gift shop too …

After we left the library we walked round the side of the building to Bryant Park behind it … and wandered through the lunchtime crowds …

We spotted a few people dotted around playing games of Chess and Checkers …

_MG_3521-1We carried on wandering along the streets and stopped somewhere for a couple slices of Pizza for lunch before walking the few blocks left to get to our next destination … the Empire State Building …

It took a ridiculous amount of time to get up there … but once we were up the views weren’t half bad …

The Flatiron (see above) has got to be one of my favourite buildings …

There isn’t a lot of room on the Observation Deck and it was pretty crowded when we went …

Spot Madison Square Gardens peeking out from behind a building above …

Central Park above behind the GE building … the top of the GE building is actually another Observation Deck called Top Of The Rocks … we went there later in our trip with our friends Laura and James … I actually prefer that one but I’ll tell you why later when I post about it …

It was an interesting visit for me … on one side of the building the winds were quite strong and the gusts were causing the skirt of my dress to fly around … a lot … Perry thankfully stepped in to help … eventually!

Another skyscraper I love … The Chrysler building …

_MG_3652-1 _MG_3658-1 _MG_3670-1That pretty much sums up the first half of our first day in New York … I’ll be back later this week with more pictures and updates from our trip …

Till next time …
