Weekly Roundup … Long Weekends … Kings of Leon Concerts … & A Lack of Sleep …

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetWell it has been a crazy busy week … considering we had a long weekend and short working week it has felt like the weekend was never going to get here … it has felt like the longest week in existence … probably a combination of to do at work and not sleeping properly at night is creating this feeling …

Last weekend as I noted earlier was a long weekend … it was actually a really relaxing weekend away … we stayed at the WESTIN ABU DHABI for a couple nights which I posted about recently too …

_MG_3327-1We also spent the weekend planning our Summer Holidays … I’m excited to share that we have a week off at the end of next week and we are going to head across the Atlantic for a trip to New York and Chicago … we are really looking forward to this one … we’d actually booked the flight months ago but hadn’t really put much thought into our plans for the time off and we decided to add Chicago to the trip too … we both really love New York but have never been together … and I’ve never been to Chicago but Perry really enjoyed it last time he was there … so I’m really looking forward to this trip …

The second trip we planned is at the end of July to coincide with the public holiday at the end of Ramadan … and we will be heading off to South Africa … Cape Town specifically where we have arranged a hire car and will have a week long driving holiday and spend a few days on Safari at the ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK … I honestly cannot tell you how thrilled I am about this trip … Perry’s been wanting to do a driving holiday for a while now and I’ve always wanted to do a Safari … so this is one we are both really excited about doing …

_MG_3290-1 _MG_3265-1Whilst we were in Abu Dhabi we made time to take a trip to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque … (more about that in a couple days) …

We got back to Dubai Sunday afternoon early enough for Perry to have enough time to unpack and repack his bag to head to the airport and off to Saudi for the rest of the week … I spent the rest of the week while he was away manic at work trying to juggle a bunch of different things and meetings all at the same time …

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetIt hasn’t helped much that because of all the roadworks going on outside our building for this new tram line is causing mega traffic on the bridge by our apartment … it wasn’t too bad up until a few days ago when they moved one of the traffic lights and plonked it right infront of our building causing all the cars to back up onto the bridge … it took me about 25mins just to get across the bridge on my way home the other night … not fun … (if you hadn’t figured it out already I don’t do well in traffic) …

I have to say it was the first time I’d been to a concert where the toilets have fancy toiletries including a Dental Kit!

The show was really good fun … and it was nice to spend time with Stef and Bas catching up … Kings of Leon rounded off the night with some of their more popular songs and some pyrotechnics on stage …

All in all it was a lovely evening … looking back on everything as much as its been a manic busy week its been quite productive too … neither Perry nor I have been managing to sleep much at all and I’ve been struggling a lot in the mornings because of it … we don’t have a lot planned for the weekend but I am hoping we can catch up on some much needed sleep over the next couple days …

Anyway that is it for now …

Till next time …

  1. Your booked holidays sound very exciting. Will you be flying from anywhere in Europe? I mean having a stop over or something like that? The Safari is going to be extra special I think. Wish you have a great time. I’m sure you will. 🙂 XXX

    • No stop overs in Europe … thankfully all our flights are direct … although the one to NY is 14hrs and Cape Town is 11hrs … its better than stop overs though cause we would have lost a lot of time doing it that way.
