Vakil Mosque & Public Baths … Shiraz, Iran …

_MG_1891-1Hey everyone … so back to Iran posts again … whilst we were in Shiraz we went to see the Vakil Mosque and the Vakil Bath‘s located near to the Vakil Bazaar … The mosque is a beautiful structure … it isn’t the most fancy or elaborate mosque but I really like its simplicity and clean lines …

Thankfully when we got there it wasn’t too busy and it was easy enough to get photos without other people getting in the way most of the time …

The marble staircase in the picture above is carved out of one solid piece of stone …

I really like the mosaic details on the ceiling …

The mosque is currently undergoing some restoration work … mainly on the stone floor …

We did also notice there were a lot of these markings on the stones … they were all so different and didn’t seem to make sense … no one we asked knew what they were for either …

After we left the mosque we went next door to the Vakil Baths … these used to be public baths … and subsequently they have since been transformed and used as a restaurant for a while and then as a museum … now it houses wax work models depicting classic scenes of what the baths would have looked like when it was in use …

I’ll be back soon with the next post about the Bazaar itself …
