Bagh Delgosha & Saadi’s Tomb … Shiraz, Iran …

_MG_1544-1So after out LUNCH and afternoon nap at our family Bagh we all finally got ready to go out for the evening for a final bit of sight seeing for the day … we headed to the Delgosha Bagh … which is another popular garden in Shiraz full of Orange Blossom trees … and at this time of the year all the blooms are open and the place smells amazing …

Much like with many of these Gardens in Shiraz and Iran in general there is a large traditional house at its centre …

The Orange Blossoms are really popular in Iran … people use them as pot-pouri or they drink the extract (it has a lot of health benefits) and the flowers can be turned into jam as well as other uses …

My Aunt Mitra was telling us that the Bagh rent out the trees every year when they are in bloom … people will pay to come in and shake the trees to get the flowers and then go on and sell them … we did see lots of people selling the orange blossoms on the side of the streets as we went around each day …

We just walked around the park enjoying the smell and flowers in the afternoon light …

After we finished at the Bagh we headed off round the corner and up the road a short way to go visit the tomb of Saadi

Saadi is another really well known Iranian poet much like HAFEZ … again the location of his tomb is in the middle of a immaculately laid out garden that attracts a lot of visitors every year …

Under the tomb there is a underground fish pond … its treated much like a wishing well and its very popular with visitors to throw money in and wishing for good fortune …

All in all it was a lovely way to end the busy day we had … that is it for this post … I have a few more posts left from Iran … so stay tuned …

Till next time …
