Hafez’s Tomb … Shiraz, Iran …

_MG_0783-1After our trip to BAGH ERAM in the late afternoon of our first day in Shiraz … we headed over to Hafez … the Tomb of Hafez is a popular tourist attraction in Shiraz, and Hafez is a very famous Persian poet … I’ve always enjoyed visiting Hafez myself when I come to Shiraz as the gardens in the grounds are quite beautiful and its just a nice place to come and enjoy the atmosphere …

_MG_0732-1 _MG_0754-1 _MG_0758-1Having decided to visit on a Thursday evening we happened to have picked the busiest time … the place was full of visitors and again there were so many foreign tourists around … its a lovely time of year to visit as the flowers are all in bloom and the weather is really lovely for being outside …

_MG_0778-1 IMG_2369-1 _MG_0783-1 _MG_0792-1A quick note about the tickets for most tourist attractions in Iran there are two prices for entry … one for Iranians and one for the Foreigners which is usually close to 7-10 times the price Iranians have to pay … in this case an Iranian  ticket was 15,000 Rials (about 2 AED) and a foreigners ticket would have been 150,000 Rials (about 20 AED) … its a bit ridiculous really to have two vastly different ticket prices, there should just be one price for everyone … I’d understand discounts for seniors or students etc but I do think this is a little unnecessary …

Another reason I love coming to Hafez is its a great place to sit and watch people going by … its interesting to see … during the day you usually find students either studying and some bring their sketch books and sit in the archways to work on their art …

As the sun sets people gather in a corner for evening prayers …

More people watching …

_MG_0907-1 _MG_0914-1 _MG_0966-1 _MG_0988-1After we were all finished we headed over towards the Cafe near the entrance of the grounds … I saw this group sat outside by the road just playing some music and enjoying the evening …

By the time we got to the Cafe my other cousin Navid and his wife had also joined us … we stayed to listen to the music playing over the speakers and enjoyed some traditional Ice Cream and Faloodeh

_MG_0925-1 _MG_0935-1 _MG_0948-1Faloodeh is a really popular dessert in Iran and the faloodeh in Shiraz is known for being some of the best available in the country … needless to say we ate a lot of this stuff during our trip …

That is it for this post …

Till next time …
