Dubai Colour Run … Motor City …

Hey everyone … so on Saturday Perry and I took part in Dubai’s very first Colour Run … it was lots of fun and early enough in the morning so that the hot weather wasn’t too much of an issue either … the event was organised down at the Dubai Motor City Autodrome and with 8,500 people in attendance to take part in the Colour Run it was shaping up to be a busy event …

Once the event started it took a while before we actually managed to cross the start line … they let people through in waves to allow for some spacing between the groups … and we ended up being in the fourth wave … it wasn’t a running event in the truest sense of the term … it wasn’t timed and to be fair I think more people were walking/jogging the route than running it … but it was all for fun at the end of the day …

Lots of people in white at the start of the morning … DSC04318-1 DSC04320-1A group of South African’s with Mandela pictures on their backs …

At the start line …

The woman behind Perry looks rather concerned … not sure why …

Then we were off …

Plenty of people ahead … and lots more coming up from behind too …

DSC04343-1Passing through the first colour station … Yellow …

DSC04345-1 DSC04348-1They were quite conservative with throwing the colour at this first stop … Perry somehow managed to get through without getting anything on him … Coming up to Red next we both got a bit more colour …

There were lots of people in tutu’s running around the place …

Someone had managed to get Perry square on the side of the head … it almost looks like he’d been hit around the ear … he spent a long time trying to get all the red out of his ears later that afternoon …

DSC04362-1The blue station was a lot of fun … the volunteers seemed to be covered in more colour than the runners …

DSC04365-1 DSC04369-1 DSC04371-1 DSC04372-1 DSC04374-1The coloured powder they threw at the runners at each colour station along the route is basically dyed corn flour … so its not harmful in anyway … and it washes out pretty easily too … although it did take some scrubbing to get the blue off my face …

There were plenty of families with kids on the route too …

We had some great views towards the Marina … and Perry’s red ear …DSC04379-1The Pink colour station was probably by far the craziest one along the route …

DSC04387-1 DSC04388-1 DSC04390-1 DSC04391-1 DSC04393-1There were little girls literally rolling around on the floor trying to get as much pink on them as they could …

DSC04395-1 DSC04394-1DSC04399-1Then onto the final stretch to the finish line …

DSC04404-1There was a family running with a little child in a baby carrier …

DSC04405-1We finally made it to the finish line … considering how slow we were walking … I stupidly didn’t listen to Perry and wore the wrong shoes for this so blisters were killing my feet and we couldn’t really walk to quickly let alone run … we still managed to get round the whole thing in under an hour … even if I was hobbling by the end of it …

DSC04408-1The party at the finish line was even more colour madness …

DSC04411-1 DSC04412-1 DSC04413-1 DSC04417-1Every 15mins or so they’d have a countdown and people would throw up their sachets of coloured powder …

DSC04421-1 DSC04422-1 DSC04430-1 DSC04432-1By the end of it we headed home looking a lot more colourful than when we started earlier in the morning …

DSC04428-1Thankfully most of it washed off easily enough … although our faces needed a fair bit of scrubbing …

Perry took some video clips on the Go-Pro as we went round … I’ve pulled it all into this little clip below … so feel free to have a watch if your interested … Apologies in advance for the shaky video … especially at the start …

That is it for this post …

Till next time …
