Dinner At Vu’s – Emirates Towers …

Thursday night Perry and I went out for dinner at Vu’s restaurant at the Emirates Towers … the restaurant is on the 50th floor of the hotel tower … and its set up in such a way that all diners get a window table with views out over Dubai and the Gulf … although at night you couldn’t see much beyond the city lights … it was a lovely atmosphere … not particularly lively but perfect for a quiet dinner just the two of us …

View from the car as we drove up to the hotel …

The Emirates Towers …

The lobby …

Perry checking out the menu …

We opted to go for their 4 course Explorer Menu … which was quite yummy … the service was great and whilst we did get through all the courses rather quickly it didn’t feel like we were being rushed at all …

View from out table … and then table next to us reflected in the window …

The bread basket … full of delicious fresh breads …

The first course was an Octopus salad, with squid ink mayonaise … this was probably the one part of the whole menu I wasn’t particularly fond of … but it was actually surprisingly tasty … even so it’s probably not something I’d order again if I saw it on the menu …

I’d already started on the dish before I took the photo …

The second course was a Ricotta Gnocci served with asparagus and veal bacon … this was quite yummy and it did leave me wishing there were more than two pieces of gnocci on the plate … nonetheless beautifully presented …

The main course was steak and butternut squash puree … this was gorgeous … and perfectly cooked … very yummy …

Desert was Mango Brule with Pistachio Ice Cream … saying that it was delicious doesn’t even begin to do it justice … the combination was gorgeous …

Finally we were given a white chocolate heart and a Coffee Macaroon to end the meal … both tasty … Perry and I both agreed that it was a brilliant restaurant for a quiet meal … and its certainly somewhere we will be coming back to in the future …

Me and the view …

To top off the evening we were also presented with what has to be the most over the top device ever made for dispensing toothpicks … see the series of images below to see it in action …

Perry and I had started a ‘Date Night’ type thing earlier this year … we were both getting really caught up being busy at work and getting on with stuff in the evenings it became apparent we needed to make the time to go out for a nice meal or something just the two of us on a regular basis … which allows us to catch up with each other in an environment where we aren’t distracted by everything else thats going on …

Anyways since getting back from London we hadn’t really had a Date Night … we’d been too busy or too tired to go out … although having made the effort to do so after a long and tiring week at work … it was the perfect way to relax and unwind before the weekend …

Thats it for now …

Till next time …
