Caturday – Weekly Updates According To My iPhone …

Hello everyone … welcome to another dose of Caturday updates … I’ve got to take the boys to the vets this afternoon … a different one this time … last time I took them in to the other place Derek was visably distressed by the whole thing … hopefully this will be better … oh and having our AC cleaned today and as they have to fumigate the flat at the end we need to get the kittens out for that and figured this would be a good reason as any to get them a check up … especially Derek who has developed a very weepy eye again …

As it turns out having 7 random strangers carrying ladders and all sorts of cleaning equipment was abit much for the boys to handle … Hugo gave himself a proper little fright when he dashed into the living room (I’d had them confined to the bedroom and he’d managed to get out) and pretty much freaked out when he ran into the men … panicing and with his little paws scrabbling around on the tiles he scampered under the sofa before I could get to him …

We decided to see if the party room in our building was free (thankfully it was) and we took the boys and ourselves down there for the day … although the boys are a bit worried still atleast they wont have to deal with the strangers covering our flat in plastic wrap! … will do a proper post about it all later … but for now here is this week’s caturday post …

Kittens are all over the catnip …

Derek will even crawl into a paper bag for some Nip!

They both love sleeping like this with a leg dangling off the edge … Hugo’s white fluffy belly is affectionately referred to as his ‘udder-belly’ …its so adorable and jiggles around as he trots about the apartment …

Derek loves this rug … and equally loves to have his nap under the coffee table …

Apparently sleeping like this with your head squished is comfortable for Hugo …

Derek seems to be able to get himself into some rediculously cute poses … he loves sunbathing by the window in the spare room … looks like he wouldn’t be out of place if we popped him on a sunlounger by the pool!

Hugo loves the spare bed … we dont let them in the spare room too often so its a novelty for them when we do …

The ‘Dont judge me’ stare … he’s halfway to sitting up properly …

Derek loved the anniversary presents my family had sent us … I think he would have tried eating the flowers/fruit if we’d given him half a chance …

Derek was not as easily impressed … decided to just go roll over in the corner …

Look at his big fluffy tail …

I was banging around in the kitchen the other night making dinner when I realised I hadn’t seen the kittens for a while … went looking for them and found them snuggled up with each other on the bed … too cute …

This one just loves the sink … gets in there all the time …

And finally a little update on the stray kitten by my office … he seems to be doing well … not that you can really tell from the pictures but he is getting bigger … there appear to be other people working in the building who leave bits of food out for him some days as I notice scaps in the car park occasionally … so I’m a little less worried about him getting food now … any way here are a few photos from this last week …

He has a proper pair of lungs on him … meows so loud …

He is still tiny though and I do still get this overwhelming urge to pick him up and take him home with me … but I know he’d be miserable being stuck in an apartment … so I stick to playing with him abit and feeding him when I can …

Thats it for this week … Hope your all having a great weekend …

Till next time …

  1. Mina-that kitty is malnourished at best. Why not take it to an animal shelter…they have them there, yes? Life on the street is minimal/short at best. IT crossed your path, so please take it to a safe haven…not with the boyz, some caring place where it can live out a life in safety. Thanks, D.

    • There are no shelters here as such … All work based on foster carers for the animals … And the two places I’ve found and contacted don’t have space at present so can’t take him in … I’m doing what I can to help him but if the animal charity’s can’t do anything then the best I can do is to feed it when I can!

    • The fumigation method used was totally safe … It was a bio degradable solution that kills all bacteria/mould etc and converts everything to hydrogen and water molecules … The flat was safe 10mins after it was finished … No problems

  2. So sad about the stray kitten, it looks at the brink of starvation, so painfully thin. A sign of true civilization is how well we look after those less fortunate than ourselves – and stray animals belong to that category. The fact there aren’t any shelters and not enough charity places either speaks volumes about a country that has money to built such swanky highrise apartment blocks we see in your pictures and has people who can afford to buy those shiny cars we see parked below…but cannot be bothered to ensure that animals are being cared for. Not a country I’d like to be a citizen of, that’s for sure.

    • The one thing that the charity’s do is even if they don’t have space they will ensure any strays that are reported to them are neutered to at least prevent further strays being born as much as possible … I have reported the kitten but waiting for availability … These charity’s are run by volunteers only with no help from the government so they do the best they can … It’s not a perfect system but then again no where is perfect … Everywhere has instances of animal abuse and abandonment … This kitten is at least being fed by me (and I’ve seen others leave food out for him) … The building manager seems to have adopted him and looks after him best he can … The kitten at least has somewhere to sleep at night which is more than other strays …
