Keeper’s Cottage … Throwback To The 60’s …

During the time we were back in the UK, Perry’s parents were between houses … they had sold their house several weeks before and moved out … but their new house was taking longer to complete on … in the mean time they were renting … and they weren’t renting just any old house … but the Keepers Cottage in the depths of Ashdown Forest … the home of Winnie the Pooh

The Keeper’s Cottage is a 2 bed cottage about a 10min drive from the nearest tarmac road … but in very picturesque surroundings … more on the surroundings later … this post is about the cottage and its insides!

The inside of this place is so heavily decorated with ornaments and random bits and pieces its incredible … the owners of this place seem to have a love of peacocks … other than the hundreds of these birds that wander the grounds … the house is full of little peacock ornaments and decor …

Its also very … shall we say … ‘Vintage’ … with the furnishings … orange shag pile carpets … and random bits of memorabilia … we really enjoyed staying here … although Perry did get quite annoyed with the peacock squawking in the early mornings …

The view of the Cottage as you come down the dirt road …

Every surface was covered with stuff in this place …

They had two of these awesome chairs in the lounge too …

Big coil of rope and a sword … you know … as you do …

Charles and Diana Wedding Memorabilia …

More Peacock related ornaments in the display cabinet …

… and throw in some model elephants for good measure …

Dining room decor …

Skulls and all lined the shelves around the dining room …

Lots of dried flowers off the beams …

Gorgeously comfy sofas …

It was so much fun to take pictures of all the details in this place … I’ll have another post soon about the actual forest itself from when Perry and I went round for a walk …

Thanks for taking a look … Thats it for now …

Till next time …

  1. I think it looks like Aladin’s Cave or antique shop! The owners can earn a lot on Antique Road Show!!! How difficult it would be to clean this house specially dusting all those shelves!!! Very very interesting. I’m sure Pat and Patrick would be more than happy to leave the place but I think it’s very romantic to stay in such a place for a weekend maybe!!
Looking forward to the other post 🙂
