Thursday Weekly Roundup and Weekend Plans …

Hello everyone … another week over another weekly roundup of what we’ve been up to … its been a busy week this week … lots of little things going on … but definently more productive than last week which is better …

We finally were able to book our flights home this week … My manager was on holiday for the last couple weeks and I couldnt confirm I had the two weeks off until he came back to approve my leave … last thing we wanted to do was to book the flights and then have to change them … but thankfully it all went well and we will be back in the UK for the 17th-31st August … eek … exciting … we cant wait to see everyone 🙂

I went to see the Allergy Specialist earlier this week … it was rather odd going to the Emirates Hospital Clinic its on the 33rd Floor of the Habtoor Business Tower and I had to walk through the Bently showroom to get to the lifts … it was a first for me … But I have to say up on the 33rd floor does provide some stunning views out over the Palm, Burj Al Arab and the surrounding Marina …

The appointment went well … the Doctor was actually quite funny too … he took one look at my nose and proclaimed “You are my favourite type of patient … you have a typically Allergic Rhinitis” … which roughly translates as I have all the typical symptoms of an allergic nose …

So now that we’ve established that I most certainly have an allergy … the next step is to figure out whats causing it … so he’s sent a request to my insurance company for a Sinus X-ray, blood test and a Skin/Scratch test to see if they can figure out what my allergy is … and a couple days after I got a call to say it has all been approved so I’ll be back there again next week to get my tests done!

On Tuesday this week I had another EPyC Biweekly Meetup to co-host … and as I had been absent from the last one I wanted to be sure I attended this time … although I’d had a rough day feeling quite crappy with the sniffles … I almost cancelled … I pushed through and was glad I went along … by the time I got home after dropping a couple peole off on my way back I was knackered and really didnt want to have to think about all the stuff I still had to do that evening …

I walked in to find that Perry had done all the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, done the laundry and tidied up the living room … and as if that wasnt enough he led me to the bedroom where I was greated by this scene …

Yes thats right … Perry not only bought me flowers and left me a cute note on the iPad … but he also made me an Elephant and a Swan out of towels!!!

Apparantly it took him 3 or 4 goes to do the Elephant cause Hugo kept attacking it … it was a complete surprise and there was no particular reason for it (or for the randomness of the towel animals) but he’d known I’d been having a rough few days with the allergies and wanted to do something to cheer me up … and it worked … it made me laugh and I’ve kept the swan in the corner of the bathroom for now … (the elephant didnt last long once Hugo got in the room) …

Earlier today I got to chatting with an old University friend of mine who’s considering moving out to Dubai sometime in the next year or so and was asking if he could come to me for some advice about the whole thing … I told him to get in touch nearer the time and I’d fill him in on all the details … he then suggested I do a blog post about it … so thats what I’m going to do … well actually there is so much I could write about relocating to another country and the UAE in particular that I thought I’d do a series of posts about it … So thats what I’ll be doing … once I’ve brainstormed some ideas and developed a plan I’ll post a series of posts over a few weeks about what you need to know to move to the Middle East and especially for Dubai …

Thats it for this weeks developments … As for what were going to be doing this weekend … well we’ve left Friday as a bit of a lazy day … catching up on house chores and I’ve been planning this photo project which I’d like to make some headway on this weekend too … Perry has a bunch of his own things he needs to be getting on with … but generally wont be a day of running around …

Saturday we have our Arabic class again … we only have 2 more after this one and the pace is starting to pick up so its more interesting for me now … after that were going to be spending the afternoon out and about running errands and picking up stuff we need before heading back to the UK … so nothing overly exciting this week … but all productive nonetheless …

Have you got any plans for the weekend? Anything interesting coming up … as always we love hearing from you 🙂

Wishing you all a wonderful end to the week and great weekend …

Till next time …

Mina X

P.S. on a side note … its always nice when I find out someone I know follows my blog … WordPress give alot of information on the stats for your blog, how many views, which posts are most popular, what search terms on google lead people to your blog, etc etc but you have no idea who these people are … so its always a pleasant surprise when I get a message on Facebook or a comment on a post from someone I know … it sort of reaffirms why I do this … and its always nice to hear that what your doing is appreciated by others …

Sorry that was a bit off topic but its something thats been on my mind recently and I wanted to share it with you …
