10 Places We LOVE to Eat & Drink in London …

Recently I had gotten to chatting with another Blogger and Photographer Alex Beadon (WEBSITE) via email. Alex has recently moved to London and through these emails I ended up sending her a bunch of recommendations as to some of the places we loved to go to for food and drinks in London … and I thought I would share these with the rest of you all too … whether or not you live in London or are just planning a visit … these are definitely worth checking out!

We have a mahoosive list of places that we love to go to eat/drink in London but I’ve narrow it down to 10 of our favourites … and they are listed here below in no particular order of preference …

1. The Hare and Tortoise – Russell Square (there are a couple others dotted around but we like this one the best) they do a wonderful Japanese fusion menu and their Tori Katsu Curry is YUM! … although expect long queues out the door if you go in the evening on a weekend … they don’t take reservations … I’d recommend going either for an early dinner or for lunch so you won’t have to wait around too long …

2. Riding House Cafe – this is just off oxford street and is amazing for brunch type food … they do serve food all day but we’ve only ever gone for Breakfast/Brunch … and they serve yummy fruit milkshakes in old school glass milk bottles (you know the kind the milkman would leave by your front door?) … it was the main reason we went there … but the food is good and I loved the whole steampunk style of the place too …

3. A good chinese restaurant would be the SuperStar Chinese in Leicester square its right by the Prince Charles Cinema … really good for food especially if you’ve been out drinking/dancing and need something to eat before going home … its not gourmet but their set menu is really good value … we used to organise an annual pub golf which would always end up at this place at the end of the night with whoever survived the day …

4. Pomegranate – This is a little hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant near Willesden Green Underground station … literally I think they only have about 5 tables in there and a couple outside … but their food is truly authentic Thai and their BYO alcohol policy is great too … cheap and good food doesn’t get much better than this in my opinion …

5. Fish On The Hill – if you’re ever around Harrow on the Hill and you like Fish and Chips … you should try this place … it’s actually my parents restaurant but it’s certainly not your average chippy … lots of room in the sit down restaurant it’s a great place to go with family or for dinner with friends … varied menu to suit all tastes and with options to have your fish grilled rather than deep fried means even for the most health conscious there is something you will love … the fish kebabs are my favourite!

6. For some fun ice cream I’d suggest going to Caio Cafe along Charring Cross road (its right next to the Capital Radio building) … they do amazing ice cream sundaes which can simply substitute for food … they even do some of their ice creams in the style of food … so you can get one to look like spagetti bolognase!

7. The Porterhouse in Covent Garden (just off the strand) is one of our favourite pubs for drinks with friends … lots of little nooks and crannies to sit in … although it can get quite busy with the after work crowd at the end of the week …

8. Another of our other favourite pub’s is the Marquis of Cornwallis … in Russell square just outside the Brunswick centre … again has a nice atmosphere … decent food … they do a good roast dinner on Sundays … and drinks are relatively reasonable for London too … they also have a separate upstairs area open in the evenings which is great if you want to book up a few tables for a larger gathering … we had our leaving party with our friends here … (See Photos Here)

Taken at the Marquis of Cornwallis … this is actually the first picture I have of the two of us from when  we started dating … I love it … Perry hates it … I think its cute!

9. The Queensbury Deli was another favourite of ours in Willesden Green … When Perry lived around there we used to go here for breakfast at the weekends alot … and their eggs Benedict is scrumptious … the sandwiches are pretty awesome too on their homemade breads …

10. Finally an Iranian Restaurant for the list … Some of you who know me know I’m Iranian and are probably wondering where I’d recommend going for Iranian food … well the first thing I will say is in my opinion the best Iranian food is the stuff my mum makes … 😛 … but if you want to go out I’d recommend trying Behesht along Harrow Road in the Kensal Green area … it’s good food with decent portion sizes at reasonable prices …

Other restaurants that we really like also include Carluccios (Perry’s favourite Italian) and Pizza Express (My favourite pizza place) … but as these are pretty big chains most people will know about then so I haven’t really included them in the above list …

Where is your favourite place to eat in London? Have you been to one/some of the places I’ve mentioned above? If so did what did you think of the food?

Perry and I are going to back in town for a couple weeks at the end of August so let us know if you have any recommendations for great places to go for food!

Till next time …
