Baker & Spice Breakfast … and other random happenings …

Friday morning we had arranged to go out for some breakfast with our friends Brian and Silvia … they live across the way from us on the other side of Sheikh Zayed Road in JLT … and rather shamefully it had been quite some time since we had last seen them … considering how close they are to us this was terrible …

Anyway so we arranged to meet at Baker and Spice along the Marina waterfront, opposite the Yacht Club for some breakfast … the walk down there was quite pleasant that early in the morning (about 8.30-9am) … although still too hot to be sat outside to eat! …

Baker and Spice do have some yummy food … and it was great to catch up with them … Silvia and I ordered the blueberry pancakes which came with mascarpone and peach compote … YUM! … While Brian and Perry opted for soft boiled eggs and soldiers … 😛

Overall it was a lovely morning and was great to catch up with them properly after so long … they are back off to the UK for a while in a couple weeks so we’ve arranged to go for breakfast again next Friday … although I think we will try somewhere different this time …

Otherwise our Friday was generally relaxed … Perry had some stuff he had to be getting on with and I spent the day playing with the kittens and doing odds and sods around the flat … then later in the evening we headed out to the cinema to catch a movie … ended up watching Snow White and the Huntsman … which wasn’t half as bad as I had been expecting … there were some interesting takes on the classic fairytale which I liked …

Yesterday we had our fourth Arabic Class … it was good as we started moving forward beyond the basic alphabet … so it was a more interesting lesson for me … although Perry needs to practice more … he’s still managing to get some of the letters mixed up which is understandable really … but it was a good lesson overall … started moving on to joined up writing … exciting stuff! … lol

Other than that the rest of the day was rather uneventful really … ran a few errands on our way home and then just had a relaxing afternoon … were enjoying spending time with the kittens as much as we can at the weekends … with Perry getting home late in the evenings and me getting more busy with the photography club we both feel like were not giving them as much attention as we did at the start when we got them … so were making more of an effort to play with them each day … to make sure they run around and get their exercise … cause the last thing we want is for them to become overweight …

Having said that though they are still growing … at 6months they are both healthy weights and still probably have about another 1kg to put on before they are fully grown … weve only had them 3 months now but it feels like they’ve always been there …

Recently when I get home in the evenings after work they both climb onto my lap demanding to be petted and have their chins scratched … then I just drape one over each shoulder and manage to support them with my arm while giving them little strokes … they love it … Hugo and Derek will happily stay draped over my shoulders like that for a while purring away while I get fluffy cuddles … its very cute and gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day …

Anyway have another busy week coming up … hopefully will have some time to update next weekend … Hope everyone had a lovely weekend … and wishing all our friends and family back in the UK a wonderful long Jubilee weekend …

Till next time …
