Saffron Brunch at the Atlantis

Hey Everyone …

So Vicky and Craig arrived last night and after picking them up at the airport we headed home and spent a couple hours chatting, showing them round the flat and getting them acquainted with the kittens … Derek reverted back to his skittish behaviour … it has become quite clear that he is not a fan of strangers … but by this afternoon he had warmed up to them significantly so I dont think it’ll be a problem … Hugo however was all over the extra attention from the start!

We slept in quite a bit later than usual this morning … thankfully the kittens were not too rambunctious today and let us snooze longer than they usually would …

It was greatly appreciated … eventually everyone got ready and we headed off … jumped into a taxi and got to Atlantis with plenty of time to spare …

We went for a wander around the hotel and spent some time looking around the Aquarium they have there … some of the stores (full of overly expensive jewellery and watches) … and just had a general mosey around …

On our way to the restaurant we realised that we were quite early and so decided to go on down to Nassimi Beach to show them around before we settled down for some food …

I hadn’t expected it to be open yet but it turns out it was and so we wandered around and took a few photos …

Headed back to Saffron and after waiting a few minutes for the doors to officially be opened for brunch we headed in and found a table outside in the shade …

Once all settled with a glass of bubbly we shuffled off inside to check out what food was available …

Vicky even got to try her first Oyster!

There was literally so much food it was incredible … by far the most elaborate brunch we have been to since moving out here …

The food stations on offer covered Thai, Chinese, British/European, Salad, Cheeses, Seafood, Pork, Indian, as well as a different cocktail station in every nook …

In addition to that there was an incredible desert station which had everything including a giant chocolate fountain, gummy sweets, a crepe station, candy floss, toffee apples, ice cream, as well as an array of mini deserts on offer too …

We spent a good few hours eating and drinking away … till the point that we were all too full …

It was delicious but the amount of food and options of offer ended up defeating us … we really needed to pace ourselves abit better … but we enjoyed it nonetheless …

There was a little area set up with some canvases and paints for those who wanted to do a painting …

Vicky and I decided we would have a go and we had a great time with it … Vicky did a painting of her friend Rachel who wasn’t able to make it on this trip …

While I decided to try and do a painting of the skyline of Dubai … I thought it turned out not too bad in the end … the brushes weren’t exactly the best but it was fun …

And not remotely accurate but after as many cocktails as I had had I was just glad I could paint in a straight line …

Once we were all done with both painting and food we headed off back to the main exit to catch a taxi back …

We hit quite abit of traffic and ended up getting out near Barasti … decided we would head down there and relax abit before we head home …

Perry started falling asleep on the sofas we had settled down on and so after an hour and having recouped slightly we started back …

We decided to walk & go home via the JBR walk bit to show them that at the same time …

By the time we got home we were all quite knackered and everyone sort of just collapsed on the sofas for a while watching TV and napping …

The kittens were active and bounding around wanting to be played with … after feeding them they finally settled down …

Planning on spending the rest of the evening at home … ordering in some dinner and planning the rest of the week with Vicky & Craig …

Till next time …

Mina X

P.S. for those who read our posts for kitten updates here are a couple pics of Hugo and Derek from the other day …

I put some catnip in the bottom of an old cereal box and the boys went mad for it … I loved this picture of Derek after he’d had some nip … managed to get himself completely in the box and turned around with his head and paws poking out … looks so adorable …

Hugo loves to demand attention as soon as we get home from work … and usually I get the brunt of it as I get home before Perry … as soon as I sit down Hugo clambers all over me wanting to be stroked and cuddled … It’s nice to know that were missed when were not around …
