Kittens Vs the Drying Rack … & Weekend Plans …

Hello Everyone,

Not alots been happening since I last blogged about a week ago … the kittens are doing ok and Derek’s eye seems to have cleared up on its own … so no vet visit needed in the end thankfully … in other news we finally got our car back from the repair shop … and it looks as good as new … they did a really good job with it and they even ended up repairing some scratches that were there when we bought it … so its actually better now than before I had the crash … silver linings and all …

We also went out to see the musical Oliver last night at the Theatre in Souk Madinat Jumeirah … one of the Director’s from Perry’s company was in the ensemble cast and as a result a bunch of guys from his office had decided it would be a good laugh to go along and support him (read: get enough amunition to ridicule him with later in the office) especially as he had been going on about it for the last few months …

So we decided we would go along and it was good fun … it was great to go out and socialise with the guy’s and do something abit different … oh and we even got caught up in a bit of a rainstorm getting there … it was great actually … proper big fat rain drops pelting down … the first time we’ve had proper rain here … any other time its only lasted 5mins and its only ever been a trickle … πŸ™‚

Anyway after the show we got home and played with the kittens abit … I had felt quite bad about abandoning them that evening … we literally had enough time to get home … feed them … change clothes and run out the front door again so as not to be late for the show … so we gave them some play time when we got back …

I put out the clothes rack for them to climb about on … they really like it for some reason … I guess its something new and interesting for them … but I wouldnt ever leave it out without myself or Perry there to keep an eye on them … they are like kids … turn your back and they are liable to hurt themselves …

They were so adorable … I took a few photos of them clambering about … it was quite funny to watch … I had a little running commentary going on in my head … it went a little something like this …

Derek: Come on Hugo it isnt hard I’ll show you …

Derek: See you just jump up like this …

Derek: and wander along like this …

Hugo: Wait … hang on … I didnt catch that last bit …

Derek: Oh do keep up will you …

Derek: and then finish off by poking your head through the top of the rack …

Derek: Ok your turn now …

Hugo: Ok … now where do I start again???

Hugo: … this looks like a good place …

Hugo: … and I’m up … ok now dont fall off …

Hugo: I made it … πŸ™‚

Hugo: Ok … now I’m up here … how do I get down again?

Hugo: Easy does it … nice and slowly …

Hugo: Oopsy … slipped abit …

Derek: What?!?! … He made it?!?!? …

Lol … Well I thought it was amusing at the time … and Derek’s little expression in the last picture was brilliant … I loved it …

After they had their fun on the drying rack we headed off to bed and after alot of kitten pouncing around our feet we finally got some sleep!

In other news … Perry’s sister Vicky and her friend Craig are coming over to visit us for 9-10 days … they land this evening so we have just about enough time after getting home to eat and do a final tidy up around the place before we leave to go to the airport and pick them up …

I’m looking forward to seeing them and we have lots of things lined up for them to do while they are here … the first thing we have planned is a Friday Brunch … it seems to have become the standard “Welcome to Dubai” thing we do with all our guests now … but were booked onto the Brunch at the restaurant Safron in the Atlantis which has a reputation as being one of the best brunches in town … so were looking forward to trying it out πŸ™‚

Other than that we have a few other things up our sleeves for the weekend but will see what Vicky and Craig fancy doing … will keep you posted on what goes on during the week!

Hope everyone is having a good week so far … looking forward to the weekend …

Till next time …

Mina X

  1. As always, Hugo and Derek are adorable – what a great idea letting them strengthen their “arm muscles” on the drying rack. I love the pic where both of them stand on their hind-paws and hold onto the rack with their front paws, looking through the bars, sooooo cute. Enjoy your weekend:)

  2. My boys and are entranced by the adventures of Hugo and Derek, so much that we named our last pair of foster kittens by those names. (We foster kittens from our local Humane Society until they are big enough and healthy enough to go up for adoption.) I can’t begin to tell you the joy your stories and pictures bring to my family. Thanks for sharing!

    • Aww thats so sweet and lovely to hear … I would love to foster cats/kittens too … however since I work full time I dont think it would be particularly fair to a potentialy traumatised/ill cat/kitten to leave them at home on their own with our cats for alot of the time … its definently something i need to look into more though …

How are your boys? hope you are all keeping well πŸ™‚
